Monday Fremont Duplicate Bridge Game
Centerville Community Center
Club Name: Fremont Bridge Club
ACBL Duplicate Bridge Club #262212
3355 Country Drive
Fremont, CA 94536
10:30 a.m.
As of July 2nd, 2009 my Monday morning Fremont duplicate game will be held at the Centerville Community Center, in Fremont.
To all the players who enjoyed my Monday morning game at St. John's Church in Fremont, I'm just continuing it at the Centerville District's Centerville Community Center. This is a site we used for years until it was moved to St. James Church in 2007 and now, we're moving back. The location is central and the staff friendly.
There has been a Fremont Bridge Club for at least 30 years. It was first run by Nancy Sommerville, Mary Touris, then Joyce Vick. After Joyce, a number of local players helped out, directing the game, including Wayne Smith, Jim Kelsey, Peter Cheung, Terry Kellerman, Doug Burke, Sue Johnston and Jim Solomon. Barbara Dabney is credited with not letting the game die when she arranged for them to be held at her St. James church in 2007.
Now, I will be running the game with Chrystal Newell as my backup. The refreshments are terrific and the people, friendly. See what YOU think and try coming to a game here. It is addictive!
Thursday San Lorenzo Duplicate Bridge Game
San Lorenzo Park Community Center
Club Name: The Bridge Club #262154
1970 Buena Vista Ave
San Lorenzo, CA 94580
Games are sanctioned by the ACBL and the club is within District 21 (Northen California), and Unit 500 (Southern Alameda County). This ACBL duplicate game has been in existance at least 13 years. The game was started by Bill Slife, a long time East Bay Bridge director and past President of Unit 500. Bill was followed by Chuck Seuser, also a past President and then Chuck Wong. As of July 2, 2009, I hold the ACBL sanction for this game.
There are acres of parking and the most beautiful setting of any bridge club I've ever seen. I also provide refreshments, so I look forward to seeing you. If you have any questions, please email me at hodges5894@yahoo.com.
There are a variety of special games, such as club championships, STaC games and Unit Games, all of which have increased master point awards. Please review the Unit 500 monthly special events calendar and this web page for special games if you like to plan ahead.
